A long time ago in a battle worn, white fog kingdom
stood an old tower
tall and bitter it stood, left alone and abandoned
overgrown with wild weeds and brush
stone blocks where astray littered upwards to a single window.
and in that window stood a princess
a maiden of extreme beautiful, locked inside the high room
by her once faithful husband, now she sits, saddened
waiting day in and day out, for her prince to rescue her.
And on she waited, staring with passion at the horizon
waiting for a hope but still nothing but vastness and air
on she sat till one day the grey faded, and a tall armor covered nobleman appear
riding on a solid white stallion with a royal robe and a crown
he was the perfect prince with looks that could kill
within minutes the princess was in love
"oh brave prince, thank you, please help me and i am your"
the royal smiled warmly and held out his hand, "at last fare beauty
give word your demands and I'll have you freed in an instant
the princess smiled back and leaned against the window
"This cell of a room holds me with a curse, my savior must agree to 3 questions
the first I will tell you," she took a breath for her heart was heavy
"would you give me your wealth, kingdom, and name."
The princes' once warm smile faded as she finished, he turned to his horse
his mind lost in thought... he finally spoke, "I can not, and I wont
why surrender my wealth when i could buy any woman i pleased,
why give my throne when millions crave after my royal stature,
and why my name, surely u can not better it,
I alone have written my glory in history."
He readied his stead and began to move till the princess cried out
"Please don't leave, at least answer my second...."
but the prince frowned and disappeared into the mist.
She crumbled back in the frame of the cold stone pillar
her heart shattered, her plans for freedom gone as quickly as they had come.
she leaned against the wall and shed a tear
she continued to weep till she heard the sound of another.
she rose as the hope returned, a muscle bound barbarian prince rode steadily
his thunderous bronco thrashed the grass, his axe bounced along his back.
He gave out a roar as he reached the foot of the tower
"Gorgeous princess," he bellowed, "Fear not for I am here to save you.
I'm the greatest warrior of these lands, a barbarian prince,
please tell me the ways to your freedom."
The princess smiled as she melted into in window
Her face burned like fire as she struggled to reply
"This cell of a room holds me with a curse, my savior must agree to 3 questions
the first i will tell you," she sighed as she held back her excitement
"would you give me your wealth, kingdom, and name?"
The barbarian prince beamed eagerly, "of course my princess
I would gladly give my wealth, it bears the blood of men but it yours
i would gladly give my kingdom, only it lies in hostile lands
I would gladly give my name, although many have tried to slay it."
The princess smiled harder, her moment was here, her time in the tower has ceased
she looked at the barbarian, "the second is so...
would you give your life it it gave me mine?..."
The barbarian prince smiled and started to laugh
you insult me with a piety sacrifice, my whole kingdom is run on survival
I, the bravest warrior in Hollowstone, give death his satisfaction
for a mere prison girl, I am sorry but i deny"
He continued to laugh as the princess grew red with embarrassment
she watched with sorrow as he rode away, wiping his tears of joy.
she herself started to wipe her tears of pain, she sat on the floor
the same floor in the same room that held her for years,
the same hell. Now it seemed it was her tomb.
She rose and sat in the window, sobbing as she peered into the now setting sun.
She curse her imprisonment and hung her head in her misfortune.
Throwing herself from the window became a distant possibility.
"By all the stars in heaven I have never seen such beauty, came yet another voice from below
she turned and glared down at a small peasant dress man.
he was frail and covered in dirt, his eyes hung low but his frown was lower
he rode on a battered mule and held a cluster of wild flowers
he seemed tired and tearful, yet he managed to speak to the princess
"what is it," She spoke bitterly, for her heart felt no more love.
To her she felt empty, brokenhearted. thus she felt no interest to the man.
"Is there any way i could help you?" frowned the man, who seemed fixed
by her angelic beauty.
"I would guess, but I don't want to be freed. Just let me die a pawn my window in peace."
"Are you certain?"
Tears began to fall down her cheeks as she grew frustrated, "Fine I'll tell you
This cell of a room holds me with a curse, my savior must agree to 3 questions
she fell silent, "I guess I'll have to tell you the first,"
she finished in disgust,"would you give me your wealth, kingdom, and name?"
The man placed his hand on his chin as he thought deep fully
"I would without hesitation give you what little wealth I have,
for it has brought me nothing but suffering, Even though it buys my meals
It does not buy my happiness. Without joy I feel no hunger.
so i surrender it willingly,
I would in a instant give my kingdom, it's small and in ruins
but you will be treated like family, you will be shown dignity...
safe and warm from your prison,
and I would without doubt give you my name. I have been called many thing
so much to a point that my real name is unheard of, I would gladly give it to you
if it meant the world would see how amazing it could be."
the princess seemed unfazed. She thought of the two princes and hid her face.
"the second one is this... she mumbled, still rude and bitter, still broken hearted.
"would you give your life it it gave me mine?..."
The man smiled slightly, "I would of before you gave me that question.
Without worry, for my life has been nothing but pain
I've walked my worn path proudly and i am thankful of what god had given me
If it meant you would continue on, I would in seconds,
I wouldn't be selfish, I've lived a good life."
Still deaf to every word he said, she rolled her eyes and spoke lastly...
"The last is the simplest....
Would you love me?...."
"More than any other. Although I...." he looked at the ground with a saddened face
"have never experienced love, I would adore you greatly.
At least the best way I knew how.
you'd be above any, longed after like gold
and beaming like diamonds."
The princess wiped her tears and climbed back through the window.
apparently  hearing nothing the peasant man said she called out hatefully
"It's fine if u wouldn't love me, just go..."
"Are you sure?" said the man with his head low as he let a few flowers drop from his fingers
"Just go!!" she yelled out in despair, echoing from the towering heights.
The man nodded mildly, "I've waited for months to built my courage to speak
at least it was heard by someone other then my thoughts. Thank you for listening
I'm sorry if I disturbed you, may you have a wonderful night
and a prosperous future, Goodnight princess," with that, he slowly faded away with the others
the princess wiped her tears as she started to think about the first too princes
she started to long for their love and her freedom but froze as the cell door clicked
and slowly drifted open. She looked at the window then to the cell door.
He saved her in more ways then one. Her gown drifted as she made her way
through the decaying tower door and down the old stone steps
Her joy suppressed she stepped out the tower and into the lush grass
that she has longed for for so many years
She looked to the sunset then to the wild flowers
scattered among the weeds at her side.
She reached down and picked one up, she felt cold as she thought of the last prince
thank you she whispered under her breath
with that she to faded into the world around her.
